At Least it Ended Well

In our second to last Pub Quiz of the year, we hope you had a joyous, good time. Three teams won rounds, but two rounds were three way ties so those round wins could have gone several different ways. And, it turns out that none of you have heard When A Fire Starts to Burn by Disclosure. At the end of the game, It's Been a Hell of a Day grabbed those last two rounds, and the win. By the way, that's their second week winning in a row, as they were All Hail Adam, The King of All Media last week. They're starting a little run. But, unlike last week, they couldn't win the jackpot, so it will start to grow.

Remember, there will be no Pub Quiz on December 23rd. We're taking a week off. But, we'll be back on December 30th, so we'll see you then. Enjoy your holidays and we hope you have a great time with friends, family and the people around you.

King Adam

It was a guaranteed jackpot this week, and we had 13 teams take their shot at the win. It was close at points, but All Hail Adam, The King of All Media had the night. They were in a tie for the top in round 1, grabbed it solo in round 2, and never looked back. Bro's Before Ho Ho Ho's pulled close in round 3, but couldn't overcome the top team. All Hail Adam won the night, but we had a tie for second between Bro's Before Ho Ho Ho's and No Chair, No Care, with Bro's winning out and taking down our second place prize.

Next week we'll start all over with the jackpot.

Also, heads up, we'll be off on December 23rd for a little holiday vacation.

Turkeys, All of You

Twelve teams packed into the dining room of the Landmark and we're thankful they did. The lead moved around a bit, but Alana is Satan was always near the top, and they ground wins in round 3 and 4. Los Chingadores Mas Finas won round 2, and provided perhaps the best competition for Alana is Satan. When the game was over, one team had a half point lead and the win. That was Alana is Satan. But, they couldn't pull the jackpot chip, so their thankfulness was measured.

Next week, it's a 50/50 pull on the jackpot. Take your shot!

Kim Kardasian is 35

Adam & Ed were back at the head table, making you dig up the hidden knowledge of your brain and questioning all previous decisions. We had four different round winners and the lead swung around the room on the night.

After the 4 rounds finished, we had a tie at the top. Alana is Satan had been strong most of the night, and the Fire Squids rallied late to get to the top. Winning our tie breaker... Alana is Satan! However, they didn't pull the week 1 jackpot so that will begin to grow.

If you're looking ahead on the calendar, Thanksgiving is coming up in two weeks. Yes, WE WILL HAVE PUB QUIZ the night before Thanksgiving. We hope you will bring your out of town friends and/or family to experience the joy and pain of Pub Quiz.

NO, You're Welcome to Sequoia Pu Quiz

Thanks again to Los Chingadores Mas Finas as our guest host last week. It's harder than you think to write all the questions and run the game. But we always love it when some other team is having to argue with you about right or wrong answers.

Congrats to Welcome to Sequoia Pub Quiz for outpacing the rest of us and winning the night. As always with guest host, it was winner take and so Welcome to Sequoia Pub Quiz was able to walk away with a nice little jackpot.

Adam and Ed will return to the head table next week with a whole batch of new questions to try and stump you. We hope you'll join us.

As always, $5 a person, teams of 1-6, registration after 7:15, game at 8.

The Renegades Rocked the Boat to Make it Sunny Side Up

FKA Riker is psychic.  That is the only explanation we will accept.  Once again, they called their shot on a win at pub quiz on one of our Wednesday posts.  It didn't really look like it for most of the game, as they were never in first until the end, but sometimes that is how you do it.  You hang around for the first 3 rounds, you drop a 10 in round 4, and then you win.

But really, we hope everyone had a fun night at Pub Quiz.  We had four different round winners, a couple of lead changes, and a jackpot win.  Congrats again to FKA Riker on the jackpot, and to It's Not Adam and Steve, It's Adam and Ed for taking second place.

Next week, we'll have a guest host. Los Chingadores Mas Finas will be at the head table and Adam and Ed will be with the rest of you, trying to answer questions.  As always with a guest host, it's a winner take all night.  We hope you'll join us for another great night of Pub Quiz.

88 mph and still no future

Ten teams squared off on Wednesday, all taking their shot at a 50/50 jackpot draw.  The first round was a close affair, with 6 teams all near the top.  Round two created a little distance, but teams 1 and 2 were only separated by a half point.  But things shook loose in round 3, where Let's Make Like A Tree and Get Out of Here must have hit 88 mph and jumped to a different level.  Their half point lead became a 3.5 point lead, and in round 4 it became a 4.5 point lead and a sealed up win.  Sadly for them, but happily for the rest of you, their future wasn't bright enough to pull the jackpot chip.  That means...

Next week is a guaranteed jackpot!  Whichever team wins the game, takes it all down!  As you may or may not have noticed, the Landmark has already done a little reconfiguring, and some of our real estate in the back is gone.  There's still room for at least 15 teams, but you'll want to make sure your team grabs one of those tables next week.  Remember, seating is first come, first served and you can only reserve a table by having a member of your team on the premises.

Next week's guaranteed jackpot also means that in two weeks we will have a guest host.  Los Chingadores Mas Finas will be at the head table, grilling you with their knowledge and Adam and Ed will be joining you, trying to show how smart we is, two.

Mas Finas Again

We're not sure if it was the fair, the changing weather or what, but we had a smaller crowd this week at Pub Quiz.  Only 9 teams went at it, but we hope you all had a great time.  The first two rounds both had ties, and were taken by different teams.  The third and fourth rounds were both won with 9.5 points, also by different teams.  In a strange twist, one team didn't win round 3, but still used it to grab a 1.5 point lead.  They did win round 4, growing that lead to 2.5 points.  That team, Los Chingadores Mas Finas.  They didn't win the jackpot, so next week it's 50/50 odds!

In other news, every so often we do a guest host.  Next on the schedule: Los Chingadores Mas Finas.  So, they'll be hosting in the next few weeks, giving you opportunity to complain to them about their music, the questions, and more.  We love these opportunities because it allows us to also play, and get our brains squished by some other trivia masters.  They'll be on after the next jackpot win, so expect it in 2 or 3 weeks.

This Squid is on Fire

We had a rocking good time this week at Pub Quiz. 83 people showed up as 15 teams and battled it out.  But really, the night belonged to one team. The Fire Squids started the game with a perfect 10, and a two point lead.  They didn't win every round, but they never let go of the lead. And, after four rounds, they had brought their lead up to 3 points and a total of 36 points.  However, they didn't grab the jackpot chip, so it will continue to grow.  Next week, there will be 1 blue and 2 red chips in the bag.

This was also our first week with new ownership at the Landmark.  We want to encourage you to check out the new menu.  Some stuff is still the same, but others are changing.  We're still using drink chips, but that will eventually change. If you have a few lying around your house, you may want to use them before they aren't worth anything.

The Pub Quiz Mas Finas

This week at Pub Quiz we got off to a smashing start.  Five of the thirteen teams in round 1 pulled that perfect 10.  And, with the time tie breaker, one team was 1 second off and another was 2 off from the actual time.  Round 2 had 3 teams tied with 9 points.  Round 3 had 2 teams tied at 8.  Round 4 was the only round won outright, and that was another perfect 10.

As for the lead, it only moved a round a little.  The team in first after round 1 dropped to second after round 2 but moved back into first after round 3 and held on for the win.  That team, Los Chingadores Mas Finas. And while they were able to hold the lead, they couldn't grab the jackpot chip, so that begins to grow.

Little word on Landmark drink tokens - for the near future they will still work.  So, if you have them, you should use them.  We're not sure when exactly the new ownership will phase them out, or if they will keep them around.  We've been told they will be usable for a little bit longer.

We hope we see you next Wednesday at Pub Quiz.

Nostrarikerdomus

On Wednesday, we posted that it was a fresh jackpot, and your team should take it down.  There was one comment on the post.

The game went off without a hitch, and it had the things we like. Four different teams won rounds. There were two teams with 10's.  There were lead changes.  And there was a jackpot win!

The team that won: FKA Riker.  And it turns out they called their shot by saying that they would take down the jackpot if we insisted.  Crazy!  Let He Who Has Not Put His Dick In a Pig's Mouth, Cast the First Stone won a 2nd place tie breaker and took down that prize.

That means that next week, we'll have another fresh jackpot.  Will someone call their shot, again?

What About a Trump Stamp?

We had a smaller night at Pub Quiz this week but it was still a good time.  Four different teams won rounds, something we always appreciate.  But the lead only changed once.  After a tough round two, My Trump Stump Beats Your Tramp Stamp grabbed the top spot and held it the rest of the night.  And, after the game they were able to hold the jackpot chip.  Rabbits With Better Things to do than Watch the Republican Debate took home our second place prize on a jackpot night.

Next week, the jackpot will start building again.  We hope you'll join us for a great game of trivia at Fresno Pub Quiz.

This Squid is on Fire

Thirteen teams squared off this week at Pub Quiz.  Each round was won by a different team, two of them with perfect tens.  Each round brought a lead change, and when the music stopped and the last questions were read, one team had a one and a half point lead.  That team was the Fire Squids, who have become a hot new team.  (buh dum dum)  But no jackpot for them this week.  So, next week it'll be one in three odds.

Who Talked about this No Hitter?

This week at Pub Quiz, four teams jumped out in round one with a perfect ten.  One of those teams followed in round two with another ten and it was like they were pitching a no hitter.  They stumbled a tiny bit in round 3, opening the door to a surging team.  Going into round four, Alana is Satan led Los Jugadores Mas Finas by a point.  After it all, Alana is Satan wilted like a flower in the heat and Los Jugadores Mas Finas had won the game.  But alas, they were not able to grab the winning chip, and so the jackpot will begin to grow.

As you may have heard, the Landmark, our home, is changing owners.  Don't fret - we'll keep you as informed as we are.  As of right now, it looks like we'll be staying right where we've been for the last five and a half years - in the back room at the Landmark!  If things change, we'll let you know.  We did want to take a moment and thank the ownership and staff for all they have done for us, making Fresno Pub Quiz possible and a success.

Squids are Grabby

We love it when we are down to 1 chip left in the jackpot bag.  There is always a big crowd.  Teams pull in ringers.  The pressure is on and it may even feel a little tense in the room.  And at the end of the night, someone is going to be very happy.  Pretty sure we had all that in this week's game.

The game was a good, close one.  A few teams jumped out to the lead, and then started to separate themselves from the pack after the second round.  But a bad round three has often been the demise of early leading team, and I Want to Fire Squid All Over Alana's Rabbits fell to that curse.  Another interesting trend is the team that isn't hot fire in round 1, but then puts on a run to grab the win.  We Oppose Using Babies as Anchors to Hold Ships in Dock made that run, but came up short by a point.  So who took it all?  Well, the Fire Squids grabbed round 1, took round 2 on the time tie breaker, and although they didn't win rounds 3 or 4, they were in first place after each and took home the jackpot.  Congrats to the Fire Squids.  We Oppose Using Babies as Anchors was our second place team and took home that mini-jackpot for that honor.

Next week, we start all over.  5 chips in the bag, 4 red, 1 blue.  The pressure is a little less, but the will to win is just as strong.  We hope we'll see you on Wednesday at the Landmark.

Sad Riker

Before last week's game, team Riker members joked with us that they only win like once a year.  Well, this was their once.  FKA Riker came out with ties for the round win in 1 & 2, won round 3, and held on through 4.  They topped the crowd at 31.5 points.  Duggar, I Hardly Know Her! made a valiant run after a poor round1, but came up just short at 30.5 points.

If FKA Riker really only does once a year, that's too bad for them.  They were unable to snatch the winning chip from the bag.  That also means that next week is a GUARANTEED JACKPOT!  Whichever team can rise above the rest will take it all home.

Friday, August 14, 2015

Almost our highest

Maybe we were #tooeasy on you this week.  After all, the winning score was a 37.5, which is tied for our second highest score of all our 5.5 years (38 is the highest).  Or, maybe our winning team was just that badass.  All Bros, No Hoes was pretty dominant on the night. They won 2 rounds, and tied for the round lead in another.  And after it all, they were ahead by 1.5 points.  But, they didn't pull the jackpot chip. That means...next week is 50/50!

We had 112 people this week, and 21 teams this week, so you can expect that next week will be just as busy.  Remember, we start registration around 7:15 and tables are first come, first served. If you show up at 7:45, you're likely to be out of luck on a seat.

Friday, August 7, 2015

Do They Need a Ticket?

What a good game this last week. 91 people played on 19 different teams.  Four different teams won rounds and two of the rounds were tied.  The top five teams were all within 2.5 points. Three teams tied for 2nd place a point back from the lead.

The team that ended up with the win was Swedish Sluts Get Off at the Slutstation. However, the weren't able to pull the jackpot chip so that will keep growing next week.

Sing A Long

This week at Pub Quiz we'll be getting down to 2 songs from this year, and 2 songs from 2001.

Friday, July 31, 2015

Sweet, Suite, Bro

We were glad to be back at the head table this week, testing out your brains.  It was a good game with four different rounds winners, a lead change, and a tie at the end.  I'm Not A Proctologist But I'll Take a Look won that tiebreaker over the Sieve Pros.  However, they weren't lucky enough to pull the week 1 chip so the jackpot will begin to build.

Rabbits Deliver, Death from Above Kills It

We had a guest host last Wednesday and they did Rabbit-y good job.  As with any guest host, they brought their own individual flavor and a different take on questions.

In the game, one team had the interesting twist of being tied for first in three rounds, but losing them all on the time tie breaker.  That takes some skills. They did manage to win round 3 outright, and all those good scores helped them end up with a 2.5 point on all the other teams.  That team, Death from Above.  They soared above us all and killed the winner take all jackpot.

Next week, Adam and Ed return to their normal hosting duties.  We'll see you Wednesday at Pub Quiz!

A Special No One Wants

We welcomed you back to Pub Quiz with a fun, yet challenging game of trivia this week.  Thirteen teams showed of a variety of knowledge and took their shot at winning it all.  The Fire Squids and Lucky Cats started strong, with Rabbits with Bad Habits right behind. Next Mission: 4.5 Billion Miles to Mickey and Minnie made a strong run at the end, taking rounds 3 & 4.  But the real MVP was Jared's New Deal: Free 6-incher With Every Kids Meal.  They didn't win a round, but they did lose out on two very close round tie-breakers.  And at the end of it all, they had a 2 point lead on every other team.  Their game continued to be strong all the way through the jackpot draw where they snagged the blue chip and the big prize.  As the second place team on a jackpot night, Fire Squids won their money back.  Congrats & thanks to everyone for a great night of Pub Quiz.

Next week we've got a guest host.  Like we do every 3-4 months, one of the regular teams of players takes over the question writing and runs the night.  That guest team will be: Rabbits With Bad Habits.  Adam & Ed will be out in the audience, testing their knowledge just like you.  Whenever we have a guest host, it's winner take all.  So bring your wits, bits of random trivia and your best team and be the big winner.

One final note: our friends at Sequoia North Pub Quiz start back up next week at their new home.  You'll now find them on Tuesday nights at Guri's Grub House.

Squids Can Be Found on the Mall

We've been enjoying our vacation. We're sure the Landmark enjoyed their vacation, and we hope you've enjoyed your vacation from Pub Quiz.  But we also know we're ready to get back at it.

A little recap of our last game on July 1st.  Alana is Satan took and early lead in the game, but it was close in every round. By round three, they had dropped back into a tie for first with the Fire Squids, one of our newer teams that have been making a decent showing each week.  They pulled off a perfect 10 in round 4, and Alana is Satan was only able to conjure up a 9.5, giving the Fire Squids their first win ever.  However, they weren't able to pull the lucky chip and so the jackpot was back to the sea to continue to grow for another team to try and catch.

Next week there will be 1 blue and 2 reds in the bag, so the odds are getting better for you all.  A little heads up: every couple of months we have a guest host game.  One of you teams takes our place at the head table, writing and asking all the questions and we play alongside of you.  Whenever we do this it's a winner take all jackpot night, which is always lovely.  Our next guest team will be up very soon, so be on the lookout. Also, if your team would like to get on our guest host waiting list, come talk to us.

We'll see you next Wednesday at the Landmark. As always, registration begins after 7 pm, game starts at 8.  Teams of 1-6, $5 a person.

We Take Your Wins

New blood coming up big. Two weeks ago, we had a new(ish) team win the game and the jackpot. This last week, another new team came in and grabbed the win. They were one of at least 5 new teams on the night, but they didn't pull the jackpot. Eminent Domination showed up, served papers, and won the game, holding off 18 other teams.

Next week, we'll be @ 3 reds & a blue. Will another new team show their worth, or will one of our regulars reassert their dominance?  You'll have to show up and see.

As a reminder, every year the Landmark shuts down for a week around the fourth of July.  That means we'll be off on July 8th. Make sure you join us July 1st for a great pub quiz.

Last things: our friends from Sequoia Pub Quiz will be making a name change.  They're off for a couple of weeks, and will now be at Guri's Grubhouse starting on Tuesday, July 21st. If you want another PQ in your life, we suggest them.

Who's your Boo Radley?

Things we like:
Round ties
Watching teams debate questions
Watching teams figure out a question
Home made ice cream
Different round winners
New teams winning
Jackpots

This last week we had almost all of those things happen. Sadly, there was no home made ice cream, but we did have a great time at Pub Quiz. Fifteen teams went after the prize. After round one, seven teams were tied for the lead, which may have been our biggest round tie.  After each round we were able to announce a different round winner, and our first place teams shifted around.  A constant in first on the night was Rachel Dolezal Presents: White is the New Black. They were either in first or a tie for first all night. At the end of four rounds, they were knotted up with Tequila Mockingbird for the overall lead.  After the tie breaker question, Tequila Mockingbird dropped Rachel Dolezal like Atticus Finch drops a rabid dog.  It was their first time winning, and they carried that winning energy through the jackpot drawing to snag the big prize.  That means next week is another fresh start on our jackpot drawing.

Don't forget, the Landmark will be closed the week of July 4 -11, so we'll be off on the 8th.  But every other week we hope to provide you with an excellent night of trivia.

Friday, June 12, 2015

Hop on Pop McPoopy Boobs

We had a pretty full house this last Wednesday as sixteen teams went at it.  Like many weeks, round 1 ended in a tie. After round 2, things shuffled a little, but three teams were still locked up for the lead. After round 3, Wang McPoopy Boobs seemed like they were ready to pull away for a win, but in round 4 the Rabbits with Bad Habits jumped into an overall tie.  We went to a tie breaker question, and the Rabbits were closer to the total goals scored in the Women's World Cup so far.  They must have rubbed their lucky feet as they also snatched the jackpot chip. Wang McPoopy Boobs took down the second place prize, so it turned out sort of okay for them.

A note of heads up: Landmark will be closed July 4-11 for their annual vacation. We'll also be off that week.  But until then, we rage against the darkness! Or, we play trivia on Wednesday nights.

What's Going On...Is Not a Song by L7

You guys were great this last week at Pub Quiz. Another 14 teams showed up and showed off their smarts.  We, on the other hand, had some struggles.  One question caused a point change for most of the room, one question had a terribly misleading hint to it, and Ed seemingly forgot how to read mid-game.  We'll due better next week.

In the game, the round wins spread around the room in a nice fashion.  Rabbits with Bad Habits and Alana is Satan were tied after rounds two and three.  Alana is Satan used a 9.5 in round 5 to pull away for the win.  Rabbits with Bad Habits ended up in a tie for second with Stringer Barksdale.  Alana pulled a chip, but it wasn't the jackpot, so next week there will be 3 reds & the blue jackpot chip.  We hope you'll join us to take your shot at glory.

No Arrested Developments

Fourteen teams turned up for Pub Quiz this week, and maybe a few of you even got turnt up.  Josh Duggar's 19 Kids & Counting touched a new level in rounds 1 & 2 and had an early lead. However, they couldn't keep it up for the rest of the night. Rabbits with Bad Habits looked had round 3, and FIFA: Fuck! I'm Fucking Arrested captured round 4.  But one team snuck up on everyone for the win. Do Re Mi Fi Fa Giv Me Do stood tall, and despite just missing out on every round were consistent enough to win.  That consistency lasted through the jackpot pull, and they took home our big prize.  FIFA: Fuck! I'm Fucking Arrested ended up in second, so they got their entry back.  Congrats to everyone on the night for another fun game.

Next week we're back at our normal time & place for another great night of Pub Quiz.  If you can't wait until Wednesday, check out Sequoia North's Pub Quiz on Mondays.

What sort of Habbits?

We had a densely packed room the other night at Pub Quiz. There were only twelve teams, but they were all teams of 5 or 6.  The room had a good energy, and every team scored 7 or better in round 1. In fact, 8 teams scored 8 or better.  Round 2 was a bit tougher for most teams, but at that point the leaders were at 17.5.  In round 3, Westeros Rape Crisis Hotline moved into first all by themselves but were unable to hold on for the win. That honor went to Rabbits with Bad Habits.  However, their habits weren't bad enough to help them pull the winning chip.  Next week it will be 1 in 4 odds.

A little hint (very little) about next week's songs - two of the songs were recorded in the same year. The other two songs were released 30 years later.  The latter two mentioned were released after we began Pub Quiz.

For those of you that like to plan far in advance, the Landmark will be closed for its annual vacation July 4th though 12th.  As always, we'll be off that week as well.

Royals Ship the Best

Fun night at Pub Quiz this week. We know it was at least one person's birthday, and another person's was the next day. How do we know this?  Well, If You Were a Vegetable..I'd Pull the Plug had a birthday celebration going on.  And, they jumped out quick, taking rounds 1 and 2.  Ok, Now I'm Shipping Kate Blanchett & Kate Middleton had a birthday on Thursday.  They snagged rounds 3 and 4, and crept by for a half point win.

When it was time to pull the chip on the night, Ok, Now I'm Shipping Kate Blanchett & Kate Middleton sent up their soon to be birthday girl who plucked the lucky blue chip from the bag.  Congratulations to them, and heads up, next week we start building the jackpot again. Come help us make it grow.

Another congrats goes out to Pub Quiz Honeymoon, who were really celebrating their honeymoon on Wednesday, but did have members get married over the previous weekend.  If you've got events going on in your life, we love celebrating them with you. #pubquizfamily

See you next Wednesday at Pub Quiz!

Down the Rabbit Hole

It was a great first week of a new jackpot. Seventeen teams squared off at the Landmark.  Two teams jumped out to a perfect score in round 1, followed by another 5 teams that were within 1 point. Another 4 teams were within another point, making 11 of the 17 at 8 or above in round 1. After round 2, one team was still perfect with 20 points, but #donttalkaboutanohitter.  Yep, that team couldn't win every round or be perfect in every round, but Keep Your Deflated Balls Out of My Rabbit Hole Pardner did win the night. These rabbits are proving to be one of the constant top teams, so watch out for their bite.

Keep Your Deflated Balls wasn't able to pull the jackpot chip, so next week the odds get better and the jackpot gets bigger. We hope you can join us for Pub Quiz. As always, teams of 1-6, $5 a person.

Game, Set, Match

Pub Quiz this back this week without any sound issues. There were two red chips and one blue chip in the bag.  Fourteen teams squared off over four rounds. Endless Love: The Story of Helen Keller and Stevie Wonder's Tennis Match swung hard and took round 1.  The question would be if they could hold off several very good teams.  The lead closed to as little as one half point, but when it was all said and done, Endless Love won by a point. They capped their night off by taking down the jackpot.

Next week, the jackpot starts fresh.  We hope you come out, join us, and take your best shot at winning it all.

Binks is the Best

It was a nice week off. The US beat Mexico by a familiar score of 2-0 in men's soccer and Adam & Ed got to let their hair down.  We hope your time off was just as fun.

This week at Pub Quiz was a nice little game.  Insert Team Name Here was in first for the first 3 rounds, but all of those rounds were also ties.  In round 4, they came up a little short, and were leap frogged. by 88 Million Want Their Jar-Jar.  The 88 Million weren't able to pull the jackpot chip though, so that will keep rolling.

Join us next Wednesday for another great game at the Landmark.

Friday, April 17, 2015

We Love Ya

We hope you missed us last Wednesday. We also hope that the tax man didn't treat you too badly.  Bounce back with us next Wednesday with a great Pub Quiz.

As always, registration begins at 7:15, game starts at 8. $5 a person, teams of 1-6.  Grab your best team, drop down and get your eagle on*, match your wits versus the room, and see if you can win it all.

*dropping down and getting your eagle on not required.

Reproductive Rights for All Rabbits

Lately, we have started a lot of weeks at Pub Quiz with a round 1 tie. Sometimes, it carries into round 2.  This week, we had a 3 way tie after round 1, and a 3 way tie after round 2.  But in round 3, two of those teams dropped a point a point, and the Rabbits Conserving Water by Dry Humping slid into the lead all by themselves. It was the only round they won outright, but it was enough.  Then, they ground out enough points in round 4 to hold on for a victory.  However, they weren't productive enough to pull the winning chip, so the jackpot will begin to build.

You're going to have to wait for that building jackpot. Next week, THERE IS NO PUB QUIZ. That's right, on April 15th we'll be off due to a scheduling issue with the Landmark.  We hope your tax day treats you well, and we will see you on April 22nd.

They Had the Game on Lock Down

What a fun night we had at Pub Quiz this week. Round one started out sorta crazy, with 6 of our 16 teams all tied for first place. And no teams were more than 2 points away from the lead.  Jerry's Dire Straits won the round on the time tie break, and then they locked up the next two rounds, including a 10 point round 3.  You would think it was all over from there, but the Testosterabbits dug in, and won round 4. However, they came up a half point short of tying Jerry's Dire Straits.

Jerry's Dire Straits continued the beating of the night by pulling the jackpot chip.  The Testosterabbits took home the 2nd place prize.  So next week, we start all over with a fresh jackpot. We hope you'll come out & join us.

Angie's a Winner

We love our Wednesdays with you all. This week, 11 teams went at it. Angelina Jolie Is...Womb Raider jumped out to a two point lead in round 1, then gave up that lead in round 2. However, they reclaimed it in round 3 and hung on for the win.  But, they didn't pull the jackpot, so next week it's 1 blue & 2 reds.

We can't wait to test you all next Wednesday.

Did You Say that on Video?

This week's Pub Quiz was a little smaller, with only 12 teams turning out to take it to each other. The first two rounds came down to the song length tie breaker. But a strong round 3 helped one team jump ahead, and they were able to hold on for the final round.  That team was Some of My Favorite Students are Scandanavian.  This ended a two week run from the Killer Rabbits.  However, they weren't able to grab the first week jackpot, so that will begin to build.

We hope you'll come out next week to challenge yourselves, and all the other teams at Fresno Pub Quiz.  As always, teams 1-6, $5 a person.

Killer, Rabbits

This week at Pub Quiz we had 16 teams go at it and it was close all the way through.  The game included a few lead changes and our winning team managed a perfect 10 in round 4 to pull ahead by one half point.  Not only were The Killer Rabbits of Fresbanog fortunate enough to win, but they pulled the jackpot chip.  In case you don't remember, they actually won last week and pulled the jackpot chip. Pretty rare to have a team win jackpots back to back. A second place tie breaker was held between A Rolling Stone Gathers No Mas and We Pay Midgets to Go Up on Us, and We Pay was officially our 2nd place team on the night & took home that prize.

We hope everyone had a great time last night, and we hope you comeback next week for another fun chance to test your knowledge, relax with friends, and maybe win a little.

Baked Rabbit Winner

Fun night at Pub Quiz this week. It was 1 in 3 odds for the jackpot, and we had 13 teams competing for it. But, the night belonged to The Wasted Wabbits of Salt Wake. They won a round 1 tie breaker and never looked back. Although they didn't win every round, they were in first at the end of each round. Of course, that means they won the game.  Then, they stepped up and pulled the jackpot chip.  Congrats to them.  Rock Paper Scissors Lizard Tears took home our second place prize.

Next week we start over at 5 chips.  We hope you'll join us yet again.  And if you want an extra trivia fix, check out Sequoia Pub Quiz on Monday night.

Chilled Through the Screen

This week at Pub Quiz we had 91 players turn up and turn out a good game.  We had 4 different round winners, and the team that won on the night didn't actually win a round. Winter on TV was consistent enough to slide past two teams and win by one half point.  However, they didn't grab the winning chip.

Next week, we hope for another great turnout.  The jackpot bag will have 1 blue and 2 reds in it.  As always, registration begins at 7:15, teams of 1-6 players, $5 a person.

Motion Granted

It was a good week at Pub Quiz. You all weren't too wore out from Mardi Gras & a long weekend and brought out your brains for Pub Quiz.  Fourteen teams got after each other and when it was all said and done, two teams needed to be separated with a tie breaker.  Motion to Strike was a little bit closer on it, and claimed victory over Queen Killer Rabbit and Her Warrens.  As for the jackpot, it was the first week and Motion to Strike didn't pull the blue chip. So, next week, it'll be 1 in 4 odds on a growing jackpot.

We hope you'll join us next Wednesday night for a great night of trivia. Bring yourself and your friends and see if you can take down these top teams.

Yeah, Ethics

We hadn't gotten all the way down to one chip since last October, so we were really excited to have a guaranteed jackpot. Apparently, you were, too.  83 players made up 15 teams, all trying to hit a top score and win the jackpot. The round wins spread around the room pretty well, but one team grabbed an early lead and held everyone off. It's Actually About Ethics in Crusades Journalism ended up with a nice score of 35 at the end of the night and that was more than enough to secure the win and the jackpot.  Imma Let You Finish But... came in second, and took home the second place prize.

Next week, the jackpot starts building again. We hope you'll come out and join us at the Landmark.  If you need to scratch your trivia itch before next Wednesday, check out Sequoia North Pub Quiz on Monday night.

It Was Not the End Times

It was a great game of Pub Quiz this week. We had 97 players, on 18 teams. That's not close to our record numbers of a few summers back, but it's a dang good crowd. Your Eschatology Can Kiss My Left Behind jumped out strong, with perfect 10 point rounds in 1, 2 and 3. At that point, they looked unbeatable. The crazy thing, is that even with that score, they didn't win round 3, and won round 1 on the time tie breaker. It was a high scoring, but close game. However, when it was all said and done, Your Eschatology did enough to hold on to a lead. They set our new high score record of 38 points.  Second place went to The Killer Rabbits of Fresburg with 36 points, which is up there as one of the other highest scores ever.

On the jackpot, it was 50/50 odds and there were probably 91 players in the room that didn't want to see a blue chip pulled. Their collective wills must have had an effect, because a red chip was drawn.  That means that next week will be a guaranteed jackpot.  You can anticipate another packed house, so don't wait until the last minute to show up.  Registration starts at 7:15, but there's no reason why you can't show up earlier, have some food and a drink to make sure you get your table & chairs.

Guesting is Besting

Doomed to Lose Forever stepped in for the regular hosts this week, and they brought the challenge.  It's always hard to host, and they did an admirable job on the questions & hosting.  Each of the four rounds were won by different teams, a little guy we always shoot for.  At the end of four rounds, they even had an overall tie. Surprisingly, the two teams were right next to each other.  Conejos Sin Cabeza Con Cervesa was beaten on the tie breaker by one of the two teams we had on the night named We're Just Here So We Don't Get Fined.  As with every guest hosted game, it was a winner take all jackpot so We're Just Here had a nice little payday.

Next week, Adam & Ed will be back behind the head table. It's 50/50 odds on the jackpot so there's a good chance another team can take home a nice jackpot.  We hope to see you next Wednesday at the Landmark.

Also, if you want some extra trivia in your life, check out Sequoia North on Monday nights.

Mas Finas Ganar

We had a great night of Pub Quiz this week. We had 17 teams, and 9 of those teams finished over 30 points! For those of you that don't know, our goal is for the winning team to finish around 30, but you all crushed it this week.  Los Jugadores Mas Finas won the game at 35 points, which is great, but not quite our record score.  The were solid in each round, and were able to pull ahead of everyone else.  However, they weren't able to pull the jackpot chip, so the odds will be 50/50 for our game on February 4th.

On January 28th, we will have a guest host. We usually have one of you teams run the show, come up with all the questions, and we play about 4 times a year. This time, we'll be out there, and Doomed to Lose Forever will be hosting. Whenever we have a guest host we consider it a stand alone game, so whatever team wins will automatically take home the jackpot (no drawing).  So, it's always a good time to play.

Adam & Ed will be back at the hosting table on February 4th, when the jackpot will be 50/50 odds. But we will still see you next week.

Hey, Mr. Tambourine Man

This week at Pub Quiz we celebrated our 5th anniversary. That's right, back in 2010 we started throwing trivia out at you, and some of you have been with us every week since.  We appreciate every person that's played along the way, whether they have played one game or tons of them.  Thank you all so much.

This week's game started out close, but one team grabbed the lead after round 2 and built on it.  Michael J. Fox is Terrible at Stealing Tambourines was that team, and they ended up with 34 points and the win.  However, they didn't pull the jackpot chip, so next week there will be 2 reds & the winning blue chip in the bag.

New Year, Same Satan?

We returned from our holiday hiatus to an exciting Pub Quiz match.  Eleven teams squared off, some new, some old, some returning from their own hiatus.  Each round went to a different team, and when we reached the end, one team was one half point in the lead over two other teams.  That one team, Alana is Satan, who won the last game of last year.  Not a bad way to end last year or start this year, we say.  However, they were unable to pull the jackpot, but it was only week one, so that will start building with better odds.

Next week, Pub Quiz will be celebrating. Yep, it's time for our annual cheer to us.  In case you don't know your Fresno Pub Quiz history, we played our first game, in the front room of the Landmark, on January 13, 2010.  Yep, we've been at this 5 years!  So, come out and join us on Wednesday as we not only have a great game of trivia, but as we celebrate the years.
